Up to a point one should always be wary of surveys. They are invariably carried out by people who are seeking a particular result. At the very least that outcome would be publicity for the company involved in carrying out the survey. What bothers me more though is the number of surveys that may be carried out in which the outcome of the survey itself is already predestined – questions are asked in such a way as to deliver the answer that the question-setter or his sponsor is seeking.
