ADIB receives award for leadership in Emiratisation

Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank (ADIB) has been recognised for its commitment to recruit, develop and promote local talent, which reached to 868 employees working across different areas and levels of the organisation.

The Abu-Dhabi based bank was has been awarded the Human Resources Development Award 2016 by the Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS).

The National Human Resource Development Authority led by EIBFS has launched the Human Resources Development award in the banking sector, as a token of appreciation for all the efforts made by companies and their achievements in terms of recruitment, training and development of UAE nationals.

“Emiratisation is one of our primary objectives and we are honoured to be recognised for our efforts by EIBFS. where ourEmiratisation rate reached 40 per cent, the highest in the banking sector in the UAE. In attracting local talent, we have increased productivity, and boosted our competiveness in the market. In the coming years, we will continue to focus on the development of Emirati talent and contribute to the creation of a national qualified generation that will actively participate in the growth of the baking sector and our bank," said Tirad Al-Mahmoud, CEO of ADIB.

ADIB, one of the larger banks in the UAE, has been an active participant at various career fairs, aiming to attract, train and retain Emirati talent, as well as adopting a new points-based system, approved by the UAE government, to promote UAE nationals within the financial sector. ADIB was also a recent Platinum Sponsor at Tawdheef, the annual recruitment fair in Abu Dhabi, where it interviewed over 1,000 candidates on site.

ADIB has three distinct training programmes dedicated to supporting UAE nationals within the organisation. The Retail Banking Programme hires young Emiratis based on the bank’s anticipated needs, and enrols them in a full time training programme to develop their skills and prepare them to take on rolls within the bank.

Qiyadat is a leadership initiative designed to give ADIB Emirati staff first-hand management experience. Similarly, the Tamkeen Women’s programme is a leadership training programme dedicated to empowering ADIB’s female Emirati employees.

The award was presented by His Highness Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qassimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah to Abdulla Bin Aqueeda Al Muhairi, ADIB Board member in the presence of Jamal Al Jasmi General Manager at The Emirates Institute for Banking and Financial Studies (EIBFS), during the 19th National Exhibition for Employment in the Banking, Financial & Government Sectors, held at Sharjah Expo Centre.
