Value of shares traded on Tadawul drop 8.99 per cent in a week

The total value of shares traded for the week ending 5 January 2017 amounted to SAR 24.95 billion, decreasing by 8.99 per cent over the previous week.

Total stock market capitalisation reached SAR 1,681.03 billion at the end of the week, decreasing by 0.05 per cent over the previous week, according to data published by the bourse.

The total value of shares purchased by Saudi investors during this period amounted to SAR 23.99 billion, representing 96.17 per cent of total buying activity, and sales of SAR 24.15 billion representing 96.80 per cent of total selling activity.

Saudi investors owned 93.51 per cent of the total market capitalisation as of 5 January 2017, representing an increase of 0.06 per cent from the previous week. 

The total value of shares purchased by GCC investors during this period amounted to SAR 0.294 billion, representing 1.18 per cent of total buying activity, and sales of SAR 0.292 billion representing 1.17 per cent of total selling activity.

The total value of shares purchased by foreign investors during this period amounted to SAR 0.663 billion, representing 2.66 per cent of total buying activity, and sales of SAR 0.506 billion representing 2.03 per cent of total selling activity.

Total ownership of foreign investors stood at 4.21 per cent of total market capitalisation as of 5 January 2017, representing a decrease of 0.08 per cent from the previous week.
