Markets: Asia lowers, bonds quiet

Mihir Kapadia – CEO and Founder of Sun Global Investments

In overnight trading, most Asian indices are lower as fears over the lower dollar have hit sentiment particularly towards export stocks. Declines in commodity prices led to profit taking in Australia. The S&P/ASX 200 has fallen 0.2 per cent.

Developed bond markets are quiet. The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note is 2.26 per cent, one bps higher. The Treasury Department's refunding announcement scheduled for Wednesday was one factor initially pushing yields higher.
